  • Firestone Destination LE3

Firestone Tires was founded in 1900. Bridgestone is the parent organization for Firestone, and the latter follows the ethos of the former in delivering durable, performance-oriented, and affordable tires in several countries.

The Firestone Destination LE3 is an all-season tire that’s designed for use on SUVs, crossovers, and light trucks to provide them with reliable performance and riding comfort throughout the year. The technology used to build the Destination LE3 ensures a quiet, comfortable ride while providing good performance on wet, dry, and snowy surfaces.

In this Firestone Destination LE3 tire review, we will talk about the features and benefits of the tire, along with the pros and cons, to help you make an informed decision.

    Features and Benefits

All-season tires are designed to perform well year-round and deliver reliable control in dry, wet, and light winter weather conditions. They are the most popular tires for passenger and commercial vehicles because of their reliability and year-round use. Being an all-season tire, the Destination LE3 delivers smooth and reliable driving performance throughout the year.

The advanced rubber compounded and symmetric tread pattern enables the Destination LE3 to deliver a smooth ride and precise road handling. Moreover, the open shoulder and tread grooves help improve wet grip while reducing the risk of hydroplaning. Here are some noteworthy features and benefits of Firestone Destination LE3.

    • Consistent tread wear: Tractiontech Technology ensures consistent tread wear for longer tread life.
    • Enhanced water evacuation: Hydro-Grip Technology enhances water evacuation from the contact patch on wet road conditions to reduce the risk of hydroplaning.
    • Good snow traction: Full-depth 3D sipes enhance snow traction and improve the tire’s performance.
    • Robust construction: The internal structure is designed using a polyester casing material with two steel belts for improved durability.
    • Quiet and comfortable ride: The optimized and symmetric tread pattern ensures a smooth, quiet, and comfortable ride.

The Firestone Destination LE3 tires are available in different sizes ranging from 15 to 22 inches and are designed for use on CUVs, SUVs, and light trucks.

    Pros and Cons

Now that we know more about the features and benefits of Firestone Destination LE3 tires, let’s take a look at some of the pros and cons of the tire, to help highlight the important aspects of the tire.

    • Excellent drive comfort and grip on dry, wet, and light winter road conditions.
    • Backed by a 70,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty.
    • Comes with Firestone’s 90-Day Buy & Try Guarantee.

The above pros of Firestone Destination LE3 make it an appealing choice. However, you should consider these cons as well.

    • Does not deliver as good a winter performance as some of its competitors.
    • The tread can wear quickly depending on the use and the tires should be rotated as advised.

SimpleTire’s view on Firestone Destination LE3 tires

    Firestone Destination LE3

If you are looking for an all-season tire that can deliver reliable performance year-round, has a good wet grip, and is reasonably priced, then Firestone Destination LE3 tires might be the right choice for you. The trio of Tractiontech technology, Hydro-grip technology, and full-depth 3D sipes, makes Firestone Destination LE3 a reliable choice.

You can also take a look at Cooper Endeavor Plus if you want better durability at a slightly lower price. However, it’s worth noting that Destination LE3 does have a better limited tread life warranty and longevity score.

Vehicles the Firestone Destination LE3 is a good replacement tire for

As Firestone Destination LE3 is available in a variety of sizes, it can be used as a good replacement tire for a variety of vehicles, such as the 2015 Honda CR-V, 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, 2020 Toyota RAV4, 2016 Ford Escape, 2021 Nissan Rogue, 2019 GMC Acadia, and more.

I had a set of Firestone Destination LE3s 275/65R18s put on my 2017 F150. On the highway I get a bad vibration about every 1000 feet. The tire shop says it's not the tires but my old tires with no tread left ran much smoother. There is definitely something wrong with them and the tire shop is doing nothing about it. I own a fleet of trucks and not another Firestone tire will be installed on them.

They've been installed for almost two years and +20k miles and I haven't had any issues. Still quiet, smooth, and handle as well as they did on day one. The treads have barely been broken in. Highly impressed.

Overall a good highway tire but weak sidewalls which caused a blowout for me with one of the tires for no reason.

Installed these a year and a half ago and they ride as good as they did when new. I was a slacker on the recommended balance and rotation intervals but surprisingly after 20k miles I haven't had any issues, but I would still advise against waiting that long. Treadwear at this point is all even and there is plenty of life left. Very smooth and quiet on the road. Handled the light snowfall we got last winter well too. Cant think of any cons.

I've been purchasing the Firestone Destinations for years, spanning three vehicles. Pretty darn good in all weather conditions. Smooth and fairly quiet. As well as reasonably priced. And they last! 60-70,000 miles on modest terrain. You could do a lot worse for your money, but few are better in my opinion.

Buyer Beware! Purchased these for my F150 and one tire developed a sidewall bulge at around 20 days / 1000mi. Firestone is refusing to replace this tire or offer refund because it was deemed to be caused by a "Road Hazard or Improper Installation". I was denied a free replacement and had to pay for 1 new tire out of pocket, not very happy. Given Firestone's past blowout reputation, I no longer feeling very good about these tires anymore and will never again buy Firestone.

I live in the desert, so I cannot compare wet and snow traction. These are quiet, and smooth, much better than the original Nexin that came on the vehicle. I did go larger than what the manufacture calls for because I take it off road from time to time (The speedometer was also fast, now it is right). The vehicle is a Hyundai Kona 4X4. I kept the same width, which is skinny. The skinny tires do grab the groved pavement, but it is nothing that bothers me. The tread is really aggressive, but they are quiet for being as aggressive as they are. I like them and would buy them again.
