  • With a strong presence in over 130 countries, Sailun Tires offers a wide range of products for passenger cars, CUVs, SUVs, light trucks, and commercial vehicles. Its USA subsidiary, Sailun Tire Americas designs and manufactures tires in North America, and its sister brands include Rovelo, RoadX, Ironhead, Sailun, and Blackhawk. From its large portfolio of all-season, all-terrain, rugged terrain, and highway tires, the Terramax R/T finds a special mention as it was launched in June 2023 and has great capabilities for conquering challenging terrains.

Designed to tackle unpaved roads without compromising on-road performance, the Sailun Terramax R/T can be equipped on Jeeps, SUVs, and light trucks. The aggressive tread pattern with deep grooves provides great grip and traction on rough roads and also promotes a longer service life and enhanced durability. The Terramax R/T is a Three Peak Mountain Snowflake-certified tire for excellent performance in severe snow and ice. Additionally, optional studs (only LT sizes) further make it a capable winter tire as they provide extra biting edges for improved ice braking and traction. With a special rubber compound that conquers tough terrains and maintains flexibility in sub-freezing temperatures, the Sailun tire gets a fantastic 45,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty.

So, does it actually perform well in real-world conditions? Let’s find out in this Sailun Terramax R/T review.

    Features and Benefits

Rugged terrain tires are engineered to offer exceptional off-road performance by elevating the all-terrain and mud-terrain tire performances to a notch higher. The Terramax R/T promises to sail you through challenging terrains with its enhanced capabilities.

    • Extra durability: The high-strength carcass with a unique tread compound helps resist cuts, chips, punctures, and snags. The dagger-shaped sidewall-extending treads not only aid in providing better grip in mud and snow but also provide extra strength to the structure. Staggered scalloped shoulder lugs feature stone ejectors for the quick removal of debris and stones.
    • Solid grip and traction: The unique tread block design with deep and wide grooves provides maximum grip in mud, rock, gravel, and snow. The wide grooves channel water, slush, and dirt out of the tread to avoid the risk of hydroplaning. Optional studs (for LT sizes where permitted) allow extra biting edges for enhanced performance in snow and ice. Whether it’s scorching summers or freezing winters, the Terramax RT is the tire to turn to for its great all-season performance.
    • Great on-road manners: The optimized tread pattern ensures the tire continues to surprise you even when it comes to on-road performance. Compared to other rugged terrain tires, it creates minimal noise and optimal comfort. The advanced rubber compound ensures you experience a quiet, comfortable, and smooth ride.

    Pros and Cons

While the tire offers some great features for a rugged terrain tire, it has some shortcomings as well. Let’s have a look at its pros and cons before summing up the Sailun Terramax R/T review.

I run these in a 37" on a 2020 F350 dually. This truck hauls a gooseneck trailer daily with about 3,500lbs of hitch weight. I don't rotate the tires and still got about 30K miles out of the rear. I use balance beads in these and have no complaints about the smoothness. This truck is also in wet, muddy conditions frequently and the tires clean out well. For the price point I definitely recommend over ANY other name brand tires.

These tires have been great for my Jeep Wrangler. The western PA mountains, rocks, mud and tram roads are no problem for these tires. They performed well on both dry, wet and snowy pavement. For a tire with fairly large lugs, the road noise is not bad at all.

Had these studdable tires put on in mountains of Idaho last winter! Did amazingly on & off road..never studded them as they would always just eat up any surface! Road noise ain't much at all! Make sure you have a good truck place mount, balance, & force alignment!

I think the belting on 1 or 2 of the tires is bad. No idea on how to check for sure

I purchased these to try them out, And Simple tire just immediately refunded my purchase, with no explanation whatsoever. I'm sure these tires are amazing. Overseas, these tires have a 75000 mile equivalent warranty, so I guarantee they are dandy tires for a farm/daily truck, I'm doing a 5 star review on these, so the system refers them to more people, so maybe they will fix this no ship, auto refund crap.

I have about 1000 miles on them so far and I am overall happy with them. The wet, dry, and off road traction is great. Id compare them to nitto ridge grapplers and duratracs. I have 275 65 20 load E on a titan xd. However the tread compound is very soft and causes wiggle/movement while towing. Kinda feels like driving on marbles. I have played with air pressure and nothing helps. So if you tow heavy or a lot id recommend name brand tires. The ridge grapplers and duratracs did not have an issue while towing but they are twice the price. I will however be putting them on my Jeep for off-road and snow.

For the money, these tires are a great but. Having 3000 miles on them, I have had no issues. They're a little noisy but these are nothing compared to others.
